Iran ready to purchase more Azerbaijani gas

Click to Enlarge!“Iran is ready to purchase 5bn m3 gas from Azerbaijan per year,” Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Baqer Bahrami stated in Feb. 25 press conference.

According to him, Azerbaijan declared its intention to build a new pipeline to export gas to Iran.

Presently, under a short-term contract, Azerbaijan supplies 2million m3 of gas to Iran per day. Of this, about 800.000 m3 are supplied to Nakhchivan, whereas 1.2million m3-to northern regions of Iran.

The 200-km pipeline will have a throughput capacity of 18million m3 of gas.
