Levon Aronian ranked fifth in FIDE list

Swedish Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen (2813 points) tops the FIDE March 2010 rating list of top 100 world chess players. Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian is ranked fifth with 2782 points. The top 10 is as follows:

1. Magnus Carlsen (Norway) — 2813

2. Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) — 2805

3. Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) — 2790

4. Viswanathan Anand (India) — 2787

5. Levon Aronian (Armenia) — 2782

6. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) — 2760

7. Alexander Grischuk (Russia) — 2756

8. Peter Svidler (Russia) -2750

9. Boris Gelfand (Israel) — 2750

10. Yue Wang (China) — 2749

On July 29 a Ukrainian cargo ship called Accord was detained by the Georgian coast guard. The Georgian police said the vessel had been in the Abkhazian waters - which is a forbidden zone for shipping.
