As a result of activities initiated to combat sex trafficking in Turkey, a group of 11 people have been arrested.
Employees of the trafficking and organized crime unit of the Turkish province of Şanliurfa’s Department of Security received news that women with Armenian citizenship were being kept in one of the houses in the town of Akçakale and working as sex workers. As a result of their investigation into Şanliurfa, Akçakale, and Erzrum, security staff arrested 11 individuals, including two police officers. Of those 11, 7 (including the police officers) are currently in prison. No news is currently available on the identity of the Armenian women.
